LunaSolutions PrePay is a software that facilitates the electronic distribution of prepaid mobile phone airtime and other pin based products (Ticketing, ISP, Calling Cards, ringtones etc..) through various chanels. Below are 2 diagrams featuring purchasing and/or paying for these services.
Business Model
The LunaSolutions PrePay system, powered by SimDex, is a total end to end prepay solution that eliminates use of the costly scratch cards, with an Electronic Point Of Sale (EPOS) and Electronic Funds Transfer Point Of Sale (EFT POS) solution. It is comprised of a centralized host, terminal software, and
a web based configuration application.
Purchases can be made whether terminals are connected to the network or are offline
Online requests from dial-in terminals and other sales devices are forwarded to the selected mobile operators and the credited airtime is activated via the mobile operator's GSM network. Offline requests are performed using PIN activation codes stored in the terminal. The terminal software prints out a customer receipt which includes the PIN activation code along with any activation instructions.
PrePay Host
The PrePay host provides an online or offline interface to multiple mobile operators. On-line topup request from dial-in terminals and other sales devices are forwarded to selected mobile operators and airtime is activated via the GSM network. Off-line topup request from dial-in terminals to the host and delivers the PIN activation code back to the terminal.
POS PrePay Solution
The PrePay terminal application is a menu driven user-friendly application that allows retailers pull special menu in the terminal for airtime topup, select currency and value for topup.
Handset PrePay Solution
The PrePay solution supports wireless prepay. PrePay mobile users can refill the phone anytime
anywhere by using the mobile phone.
Kiosk and ATM PrePay Solution
The PrePay System supports connection to kiosks and ATM's.
Mobile customer can buy prepaid subscription from kiosks.
Customer uses ATM to topup mobile account or settle postpaid bill
EPOS PrePay Solution
The PrePay host allows merchant to sell electronically airtime via cash register system.
Internet PrePay Solution
The PrePay solution supports also web based sale of airtime both on-line or off-line.
Management Tools
As a part ot the overall PrePay system retailers and mobile operators are provided access to the host
via web-based user-interface. Through the user-interface, retailers or mobile operators van generate
sales reports by terminals or retailer groups, generate detailed transactions list, look at PIN code
balance or generate reconciliation.

LunaSolutions PrePay is an entirely encrypted system, from all communications to the storage of PINs
in the database.
Three data types are encrypted in the system:
• Voucher Pin Numbers
• Terminal Activation Passwords
• Terminal Secret Keys
All data encryption and decryption is performed using DES encryption with a shared 64 bit secret key.
